I was hoping for some clarification. I've scoured the internet for definitive answers and can't find any. My apologies because I know this has been asked but I can't read anymore web pages. My dad wants me to service the farm truck and it's in a fairly remote part of Montana so I thought I would get a jump start on ordering fluids and such before I get out there. I need some help with fluid and capacities. The owners manual is long gone so here is what I am assuming I know. Any information is helpful.
Engine: 429 was swapped in. 5 qts of 5w30.
Trans: C6, Type F fluid only? Or will ATF be sufficient? Capacity on only a pan drop and filter change?
Front Diff: Dana 44, 75w-90, 2.5 qts.
Rear Diff: Dana 60 75w-90, 3 qts (Was a limited slip a factory option at the time?)
Tcase: NP205 75w-90, 2.5 qts
Thanks a ton in advance!
Type F is fine, most transmission guys with tell you to use Dex/merc.
if you have limited slip use the same hypoid 80-90 oil but add a friction modifier. if you're not sure jack it up and turn a wheel, if they both turn the same direction you have posi. 75-90 is fine too.
