Find the front axle, transfer case,and rear blocks off of a 4x4 from that year and bolt it on. Everything matches up. A friend and I put 59 axles under his 64 2wd. Everything matched up except the steering linkage. We found a 64 4wd pitman arm and draglink. I have a c6 trans with the short tail and divorced dana 24 transfer case. The driveshaft is 14 inches long. No problems with it. A c6 with an attached np205 would be a nicer setup. You still need to do a few minor things like lengthen brakelines, cut a hole for the 4wd lever, and shorten the rear driveshaft. It's not rocket science. My only complaint is that the early closed knuckle front ends take a little bit of effort to find parts for. I replaced everything on mine. Parts are out there. Good luck.
