What is a good brand amp. Not necessarily top of the line but a decent amp. I need an amp for 2 jbl 12's. What is a good brand and how much wattage is ideal? Thanks
For these subs it says between 18-300W, continuous 280W, Impedance 5 ohms, usable frequency range 25Hz-2kHz. I really don't know what all this means and want to get an amp and build a box. Manual says space needed for box so i can handle that, i just don't know about the best amp.
I think its better to run subs off a 4 channel that way you get more power to them (sounds better) But yeah, check out crutchfield.com and goto my vehicle and select the subs you already have. =)
what diff does it make if you use a 2 channel that has similar power to a 4 channel? id say none, and youd prob pay more for four channels along with the fact that you dont need 4 channels, ie you are not going with your main purpose of powering two subs of one amp...you shouldnt have to bridge
Wire the JBL to 2.5 ohm (since they are 5 ohm subs) and run them to a JBL 600.1 like this. Each sub will see 300wrms or better. The 600 benches at almost 670wrms.
I agree with Renegadesrun. A 4 ch amp has its place, driving mids, tweets and other fullrange speakers. I was running the JBL Px300.4 in bridged on the rear to sub and 6.5 mids for the front. The bass was clean, but not hard hitting and the amp got hot. Installed a monoblock and the difference is night and day and everything runs nice and cool. Also, if you run a sealed box, you will need more power than a ported box.
Thanks guys that's the info i was looking for. I built a ported box to the specs at jbl. 2 cubic ft and 4 in diameter port per sub. They say 1 in. of fiberglass for sound deadening on inside walls also. Would insulation or foam work, or do i have to use something similar to dynamat?
