I just traded in my 2016 F150 XLT crew cab 5.0L due to engine problems. I bought a 2022 F150 STX crew with a 2.7L . I really like the truck but it is not as stable as the 2016 was. What I mean to say is that it kinda dips and sways like a boat on rough roads where my old truck was much more stable. If I open the door and push the cab to get the truck swaying back and forth it rolls back and forth at least 3 times. Seems like the shocks are blown, or very weak but there is no sign of oil leakage from them. The truck has 20K mile on it.
5.0L and 3.5L 2015+ 4x4 trucks get a ~7050 GVWR while the 2.7L gets a ~6650GVWR unless it has the 2.7L payload package option. As a consequence your payload is reduced and your springs are softer. As a 2.7L owner who also towed a 7000lbs travel trailer with it, I can say that adding the HD Roadmaster active suspension really firmed up the rear end on bumps, reduced body roll on turns by a moderate degree, and completely eliminated any wheel hop when I was having some fun launches. You may want to consider this product. Note that you can adjust the stiffness. Also note that it will raise the rear end by about an inch unladen which was my experience setting the HD-RAS to beyond the 1mm position but short of the 2mm position, probably around 1.25mm.
Thats good info, Thanks. That sure is a strange looking device. I will research it more. I dont really want to raise the rear any since its very apparently higher than the front already. I guess a leveling kit too? I wonder what that modification does to your warranty?
The OEM Ford shocks stink. That is at the very least a part of your problem. The Bilstein 6112 / 5100 struts and shocks solved that issue for me. Towing is much more enjoyable now too.
When my brand new 2013 had only 2300 miles on it, I discovered one of the shocks leaking, was in the process of installing a 4" lift kit that came with new longer shocks so it didn't matter but yeah. OEM shocks suck.
