cruise control

Just received our 04 F250 FX4 lariat crew cab two days ago. Came out of a 99 F250 lariat 2wd sc 7.3. Have noticed 3 things already that I do not like and would like to hear if others have noticed, or not, some of these same things. 1st, the cruise does not keep up with this truck. If you set cruise on 70 in the 7.3 it stayed there up hills, whatever. The 6.0 drops 3 to 5 mph on what i would consider small hills. 2nd, the brakes do not seem to be anywhere close to as good as the 7.3 even after 115000 miles.(99 still had 50%brakes left) Last of all, this truck seems to want to studder when backing up. Build date is 11/04. Thanks.

I have a studder in reverse only on cold start up. After engine is at normal operating temps its fine.

As for brakes ya know this truck is heavier and will require more pressure on the pedal.

Not to change the subject Andy.. but while your checking vins can you check on this too
Thanks

What do I have

Build date 03/21/03
VIN: 1FTNX21P93EC79934

I got a print out of calibration updates prior to sale which shows
two warranty claim numbers of 108068 and 108763

108763 shows that it was for an ECC processor recall

and 108068 was for: remove and replace EECI label as per Ford recall
what does all this mean and should I have any concerns?

emtabmm, my vin is 1ftnw21px4e. thanks. Also, as tower jack said, the reverse studder happens only when engine is cold.

Regarding the cruise control, I think it is common for the 6.0's to loose 5 MPH at the bottom of any steep hill. Mine has been worked on once for it but there was no improvement.

Now I discovered that after the last reflash it doesn't do that any more. At least not today at 29 Degrees F.

Andy
Thanks for all the Info. Its good to have a friend in the business

I just have one more question:
Is the 03/21/03 build date a before or after date concerning the early problems with the 6.0?

Thanks again for all the help and information

before,

And in reponse to all of this, I have received calls today from people upset that I have provided this information, Just because the truck has an early build date does not mean that it WILL have problems, Just look at Tim larkins truck, it runs fine. If your truck has a driveability issue get it looked at! Not all the trucks run badly and if it does there are ways of dealing with it. I will not post any further help if this is not understood.....The late trucks with the "good" program and injectors will have problems also, I guarantee it. That is why every Ford dealer has and will keep a service department....
