Two Temp Sense Wires

My painless wiring kit has two temp sense wires, one labeled 'hot' and the other labeled 'cold'. One is red, the other green, and they both have the same wire number. The manual shows them connected together at the temp sending unit. Why two wires?

Plan to today when they open. In the meantime, I thought somebody here might know. I'll post the answer when I get it.

Talked to Painless. He told me that some trucks have two temp sending units (why?). I only need to use one of the wires in my application.

On another note, I just noticed that my posts say things like 'trailering' and '5th wheeling' in the upper left. Do I have a setting wrong someplace?

Thats just something the site does. I think it is related to how many posts you have made or something.
I think you can change it in your settings,
