Hey guys - I have a 2020 Ford F350 Long Box. I am looking to find a used Canopy/Truck Topper. Because I am looking for used I am finding a few options that are for 8ft beds but not sure it will work for my Super Duty. I want to be sure especially because a few of them are a few hours away drive and don't want to get there only to find it does not fit. Is there anything I should know for dimensions to look for? What years the ford changed beds/tailgates? I heard 2017 and newer have a different bed/tailgate then the 2016 & older which would cause fitment issues.
I am open to any brand and it does not need to be an exact fit. I just want to find something used in good shape. Any input much appreciated!
Yeah I do remember that the 2016 and older "steel body" trucks had a weird shape to the bed sides. They seemed to curve inward toward the rear, so that the rear of the truck had a little bit of a blimp shape to it. I always thought that was odd.
The 2017 and newer "alumiduty" trucks don't look like that.
But, I have not taken measurements so I cannot say for certain that it's not just an optical illusion.
If the shell fits tight to the cab, then you would definitely need to stick to 2017+ because older cabs are definitely a different shape and angle.
But the top of bed dimensions are very similar so one for an older truck would likely sit on the bed okay.
Thanks everyone. Sounds best to stick with 2017+ Super Duties. That at least helps narrow it down on my search. Now only to find one that isn't 500 miles away! Anyone ever shipped one of these? I really hope to find something before a camping trip next month.
