Hi, I have a 2016 Motorhome with the 6.8l V10. It would overheat when climbing a grade. So I would turn on the heater. On hot summer days, I can’t run the A/C on a straight road when driving on highway. It would start to overheat. Upon inspection, noticed that the radiator and condenser were clogged up and super dirty. I went to the dealer and bought a brand new radiator, condenser, water pump, thermostat, lower coolant hose, clutch fan. Replaced all of that. It’s now running even hotter than it did before. Reaching temps of 244 on ScanGauge. Have no idea what could be causing it to run so hot. My brother has same RV, same year, same engine. We both drove on the highway together, mine is overheating with A/C on, his is running cool with A/C. Anyone have any idea what could be the issue?
Get a $20 IR thermo gun and take some measurements at the inlet and outlet hoses to the radiator and verify there is cooling. Take some measurements around the engine as well. You can also measure the inlet and outlet of the catalytic converter to ensure there are no issues there.
How clogged was the radiator? Are you talking about internally or externally? If internal, you'd probably want to run a coolant system flush, backflush, etc.
I'd probably get a exhaust detection kit and ensure there isn't a small head gasket leak or something that is allowing exhaust gases into the system.
