AC compressor clutch went out on the 88 F150 300-6 with factory air. All original AC parts, was told only the clutch would need to be replaced, but i can’t seem to find one? Anyone know the original part number for these compressors/ clutches? Thanks
Where did you look?
I cant remember if I got mine from a local parts store or Rock Auto, think Rock.
Thing is mine was for a V beltbut I would think easier for a serp belt as there were more trucks with that compressor and serp belt.

To be fair, I only checked with the slow Joes at autozone and oreillys
Agreed, no absolute reason to replace the compressor yet
However, sometimes the hub melts because the compressor is failing
Have a Ford dealer parts department tell you the obsolete clutch hub and pulley part numbers and the field coil too (it might have melted as well)
Then check Ebay for NOS parts
I at one time had a few of them for sale on Ebay
Sold most of them
I doubt I have any old FS6 hub parts left, but come up with a part number and I will check
Pull that hub off and check the spline count, the early ones had less splines.
We is plural for everyone here involved in this thread.
FOT is a fixed orifice tube.
Any comp I have clutch slapped has already lived its useful service life and often make a few more years before their time is over. A compressor from 1988 is far beyond that time.
That thing obviously became beyond hot to melt all the rubber out. Who knows what other damage happened internally to it during that.
Last time I saw a compressor clutch melted like that was because the the compressor itself was locked down. Might want to check and see if you can turn it without the belt on it.
