Bought a '99 F250 SuperCab which brought me into the fold. This will be my 5th Ford truck and a 2nd SD in same config. Time will be the judge of whether I got lucky with this one but so far I'm pretty stoked. Came with some good mods so not much I'd want to add, maybe upgrade the lighting down the road and install side steps.
The interior is the only thorn in my side. It's not horrible but could use a refresh. Was thinking of going with something more sporty and upscale perhaps from later Ford truck or suv models. Hoping for those with upgraded interiors to share photos and secrets to executing a proper install.
Wow,that's pretty nice. I'd also like to switch the interior color to dark with the upgrade. How much did all of that set you back? What were the big obstacles in your upgrade?
I bought a complete non running parts truck so I had every single thing I needed them sold the rest and made money in the process. Just a lot of work and time. There are different level you can do the dash swap. To get the newer cluster and everything to work it's a lot of wiring and have to buy some expensive aftermarket swap modules.
But things like door panels seats and stuff like that and pretty simple and straightforward to do.
You did a great job, kudos! I don't think I'd go that intense but changing the interior color to dark would necessitate swapping dashes as well. Will need to do more research of a direct swap/bolt in.
Did you use a kit to do the install? All the buttons etc working makes it even more impressive. Be proud of that install.
Swaphelper.com sells modules to make cluster, steering column all wire up and work and they also sell 3d printed adapter for the hvac box. I have all 3 of them. They come with wiring guides and what goes to what. They are pricey but we'll worth it in the end if you want everything to work like factory. If you didn't kkow any better you would think it was a newer truck.
