a buddy of mine owns a junkyard and in it i found a bronco that had two Rancho RS7000 shocks in perfect condition stuffed under the seat. my friend told me that whatever i wanted to take from the bronco was mine. i dont think he knew what was in there but oh well. are the RS7000's any good? if so, im going to use them on the front of my 79 bronco so it has quad-front shocks.
I dont think they make um any more, they replaced the with the RSX and they could be a lift shock or not, just depends on how big they are, and im betting your gonna have to call Rancho on that one
i went to the gorancho.com site and i could not find any info about the shocks. they seem like they a little longer than my stock ones though. if i was to install them along with the stock ones on there too, would i be getting any lift in the front end? if so, if it was to lift it like around 1", would i have to any other adjustments like tracbar or radius arm drop?
i think im going to put the rs7000 on my 79 so i have quad front shocks. maybe i might get a tiny lift out of it? if i do, will i have to make any other adjustments?
Shocks are not meant to "lift" at all. They are only to dampen the effect the "bumps" have on what you feel inside the vehicle and help keep the tires smooth when cornering. If you want lift, you will need a kit. As for the shocks being about an inch longer than the ones currently in you vehicle, check to make sure they wont get damaged when the suspension is flexing and the tire is getting tucked up underneath. You may need to extend your bump stops.
i know that they are not meant to lift. in theory though, if you add more shocks, it takes pressure off the shocks already on there. if you keep adding schocks it will lessen the amount of pressure on all the shocks and it will create a little bit of lift.
