Backrack safety rack and 360 camera compatibility

I have installed a Backrack safety rack on my last 4 trucks. With this new truck having a camera in the high brake light, I’m wondering if the safety rack brake light opening will be large enough. Has anyone here with a 360 camera equipped Super Duty installed a Backrack safety rack? If so, did it interfere with the camera view?

Backrack wasn’t much help. They stated the obvious that it mounts behind the camera and might be visible to the camera. 🙄 I’m hoping the brake light opening is large enough that the view wouldn’t be obstructed at all.

If you get one with the cutout for the 3rd brake light, IIRC the cutout goes 'over' the brake light. You may see it along the top of your camera but it's not like it should completely block the view.

I have a standard Backrack headache rack on my 2020 Super Duty. No problems with the rack and 360 camera system.

I’m not worried about a slight obstruction of the view of the bed; this truck will probably never get a gooseneck hitch. I just don’t want to create an error in the software stitching the camera views together.

I think the basic rack would be fine but I really like the window protection of the safety rack. I was hoping someone would confirm it wasn’t an issue with the specific rack I wanted to install. I guess I’ll take a chance and order it.

I didn't think the 360° surround cameras used the bed camera, I thought it was just the front, rear (tailgate) and sides.

If that’s the case, I don’t need to worry about it at all.

With a cap on my truck the bed camera is useless. Thought about installing a window there as it would be fairly easy to do. But on another thread someone mentioned https://www.customsolutionspnwllc.com/
They have a cable to allow you to move the camera. Seems a little costly for just a cable, but not obnoxious. Plus I would only need to drill a small hole to pass it through. They seem to have several good items camera related.

There's definitely an option to select the bed camera with the dash button and 360 cams. It can be used at any speed, unlike older versions. I had the CHMSL camera on a 2022 and it cut off at a very low speed and could not be viewed while under way. I bought a module from 4dtech to override that.

I have a 23 F250 with Backrack installed utilizing the plates to raise it higher for Backflip tonneau cover. No issues with camera.

I agree with 99powerstrokedF250.......... the 360-degree camera uses the front (grill) camera, the tailgate camera, and the 2 cameras under the sideview mirrors to get the 360-degree view. This should not be unaffected with the Backrack.

The only camera that the Backrack would affect is the "center high mounted stop lamp" (CHMSL) camera. If the Backrack interfered with the CHMSL camera, it would be blocking your view into the bed.

As expected from the comments, the 360 view is unaffected. The bed view is almost completely through the grid due to how far back the mounts place the rack.

I’m pretty disappointed with this safety rack compared to the one I bought in 2016. The nicely welded caps at the top have been replaced by plastic plugs. The base mounts have extra holes presumably to fit a different truck….makes it look like a universal fit cheapo. The mounting position too far from the cab and hangs over the bed…that might block a transfer tank from being able to be mounted tight to the front of the bed. It’ll serve its purpose and maybe it’ll grow on
me but had I seen it before buying it I probably would have looked for something else.
