Can anyone provide the locations for the 4 mounting holes on a 71 custom ? Located at the rear of the bed above the bump. Inside bed dimensions would be helpful. Thanks all
I have a 72 f250 custom but its in the in-laws shop an hour and a half away. I was just painting it yesterday. Hopefully someone can hook you up. Did you use some aftermarket bed skins?
No sir. Actually converting the truck back to its original state. I just picked it up a few months ago. It was a body swap, a 68 camper special ranger on 71 f26 frame. Pulled the marti report and taking it back to its original state. Bahama blue custom. So I’ve filled in the ranger badging holes.
Yes sir, I’ve cut the old rear quarters out and replaced with new that have the marker light cutout. I wasn’t planning on going this in depth with the rehab of the truck but after tearing it apart, the cancer was worse then I had expected. So finding the correct VIN (on the frame) and getting the marti has steered me to take it back to what it was originally.
Bump
Any chance any of you can get me the layout for the 4 mounting studs on a CUSTOM bedside emblem? I redid my highboy from a ranger back to a custom and need to mount the emblem on the rear bedside. Trying to get as close to original as possible.
Yes, but with a small twist. Going back to all Bahama blue with a little bit of trim, removed the mid and rocker molding. Only keeping drip rail trim, belt molding below the rear window, wheel well trim, and the rear light bezels. Also painting the roof light blue.
This is how the template I made for the Custom emblem sat on the bed. It was rested on top of the bump, covering the horizontal seam and the vertical seam.
These were all the measurements to do both sides.
This is how it sits on the passenger side. Ford obviously didnt worry about making them the same exact elevation on both sides. The same template on the passenger side sat up 5/16" above the bump. I bet if this was compared to 100 truck beds there would be a lot more differences.
Hopefully that will help you out.
