Drive my truck to go get our camper out of storage the other day. Noticed it smokes quite a bit and has an annoying smell in the cab when it warms up. Popped the hood and took a video. Seeing blowby/ smoke out the dipstick and the ccv. Nothing out the cap and it doesn’t blow off the oil fill cap when I flip it. Motor says 306,000, so who know what mileage it has if the odometers roll back at 400,000. Thinking about hitting up local machine shop to see about pricing on rebuilding or buying an already rebuilt long block. Interested in if anyone has rebuilt their motor or purchased a rebuilt long block. Thanks, AJ
It shouldn't be smoking from between the CCV vent and valve cover. That pressure should be going into the intake tract.
I'd check the CCV vent on the valve cover for a clog or blockage. There will be pressure from blowby even on a healthy motor. It's going to go somewhere. That somewhere is usually thru the vent into the intake tract. If it is blocked, it's going to seep out anywhere it can.
Blow by flows out of my ccv housing like that also. I assume it's the o-rings between the housing and valve cover. I do not get any coming out of my valve covers or dipstick though.
