89 E150 Flip-out windows

Howdy folks,

I want to tint the windows in my van, does anyone have any tips for getting the pin out of the stud that goes through the glass, it looks like it is just pressed in but I can't get it to budge. I've tapped on it but as the body of the flip-out mechanism is plastic I'm reluctant to beat on it too hard.

Thanks

Tint shops work around it, tap wrong, or the wrong time of day with heat out the wing window can explode, the one in my Suburban did the day I leaned over and just turned the release to open it, boom.

Interesting. Our commuter van has grenade pins in the flip out windows so they can be emergency exits. The kids pull them and they’re a PITA to reseat.

There’s a Suburbam with flip out windows?

I thought he was talking about the roll pin in the wing windows. Old suburban had back doors or a tailgate.

Ok just going by memory here, if you're talking about the side and rear flip out windows. The part of the latch that's mounted in the door frame, should be 4 screws. Take those out then unscrew the whole latch from the window button (The part attached to the window) do it when it's cool outside because it could crack the glass when trying to remove it. Good luck.
