Im sorry, but the pricing is not even on this planet for anything!
Thx I will get a copy of the estimate to get a better look. What I know so far is parts are quoted at 6000 and labor was 4900. The parts did not strike me as out of this world. I priced the heads from ford at 1K each which only includes the casting, valves and springs and caps. The phasers, timing kit, CVT solenoids, water pump are about another 1.5k. That leaves about 2K for all the valve train, cams, gaskets, misc. hardware, consumables plus another 500 in tax.
I do think there is something to be said for the labor cost. Original quote for parts and labor for only phasers and new timing parts was 3400 which I read is pretty standard. I know the phasers are a bear to get to but once your there I can't see pulling and replacing the heads being that much more labor. But they more then doubled the labor cost of doing the phasers. I am sure part of this is pulling the cab vs not but still I am not seeing.it.
It’s to the point the I would consider contacting Hennessey about what they would charge to update everything. Ship it there, fly in and drive it home.

Lol I live 40miles from Hennessey performance. I live in Houston, TX.

Then I would seriously go out there and at least talk to them about it and get an opinion from guys who build those engines on a regular basis. Can't hurt.
So an update, Ford has elected to cover $4,000.00 of the $10,900.00 leaving me with a balance of $6,900.00 out of pocket. I am a little disappointed by that result I was hoping they would cover at least half of the cost. But in their defense I requested new timing chains, guides, tensioners, water pump, and CVT solenoids which are definitely not broken and probably added at least $1000.00 to $1500 of additional cost so I can't be too upset I guess. We still waiting on parts but it sounds like I should get the truck back sometime next week.
Sounds like a reasonable sum, given all that will be done. Now, maintain it well, use full synthetic oil at about 6-7k mile intervals (do not go by the oil life monitor) and you should be good for a long time.
Since the front cover will be off, might as well drop the oil pan too and put a new oil pump and pick up in too. I’d want all of that clean and fresh as well.
