Powerboost trade-in value

I realize this is somewhat of a rhetorical posting. I have a 2021 PB with 37000 miles. I love the truck and all the features. My son bought a used BMW SUV with a PHEV. Recently the battery went out and it is now costing him 8 grand to replace the battery. This led me to looking at my PB. I see the Li-Ion battery is warrantied for 8 years/75000 miles which is awesome. But, this brings me to a potential issue when it comes time to trade the truck in for a newer model. As we get closer to the 75000 miles, the trade-in value will be low as no one will want to buy the vehicle knowing the warranty on the battery will soon expire. I have an extended ESP Ford Warranty but it does not cover the battery. So, anyone owning a PB should probably consider trading in for a newer model every three to four years. Thoughts?

A side comment to your overall question.
It is beginning to look like a trend is developing on nearly all vehicles from 2010 on.
The costs, the repairs with aging, Parts availability etc are beginning to come up to or exceed the value of the vehicles in many cases over all the mfgers.
$8k for a Transmission, $15k for a replacement engine including all the labor and the list goes on.
As of 2024 the top of the line F 150 can exceed $97k. A window sticker was posted just recently with the bottom line cost before any discounts..
If this continues, we won't be able to keep an older vehicle in service like times of old.
Take a look at You Tube Videos on this subject and see what is happening to shops now.
As far as an electric vehicle, of course a Battery will cost a bundle that powers the car just the same an an engine. It is the power source.
It's a comparison that most are not use to equaling out now, and you can't do much service on them.
Think it over, it's a new world now.
Beginning to cost less keeping a Horse and Wagon.
Good luck.

This is a really interesting post. One has to wonder, is a truck worth the engine, trans or a new battery pack? In my opinion, the answer is yes as long as the rest of the truck has been well cared for. Considering the price of trucks right now and the quality issues that are plaguing the entire industry, I see value in working through those initial defects and enjoying a long life with my vehicle.

Is 75K miles the golden number in which a person should dump their electric or hybrid vehicle? Only the original owner can answer that question. In this vein, I have to wonder how a dealer would apply a Ford CPO (certified pre owned) warranty to a PB or lightning truck.

My wife has a Toyota Prius 2009 with 220,000 miles and has never done anything but general Maintenace. Still runs fine, I know that is not a Ford but still a hybrid. Jim..

Aggravating all this is the dealer techs are not up to the continuing rise in Electronics technology progression by the year and model to keep up. They are not trained to that level or even paid enough for that level.
It's like the medical profession, 12 years to get an MD, then follow medical guidelines or get sued. High paid technicians!
Nursing profession below besides PAs to follow what the MD directs.
Then medical office personal trained to keep those records.
It is only going to get worse.
Good luck.
