Wondering if anyone has encountered this problem as the dealer has had my truck for almost 30 days with no resolve...lemon law coming! Anyways,,, I was sitting in park with the truck running it made a loud shutter and shook the truck so hard I thought the engine was coming out... dash lit up like a Christmas tree.. Turned off the truck and started it back up.. ran fine,, all lights were still on. Drove it home but was in limp mode.
Called the dealer and road side. They sent a flatbed and I had to move the truck so they could load it.. As soon as I hit the key it violently shook the truck but still ran smooth...
5 days later I get a text that they are still working on the problem.. code was a shift solenoid E.. generic code. Spoke with the mechanic a week later and he said it could be anything but the truck isn't re-enacting the problem so they cant figure out the issue. I then procced to tell him I tow regularly with the truck ( around 8k) and I have safety concerns and he says no worries that if the tranny detects any issue it will go into natural and cost to a stop..WTF.... That's great if I am not passing a semi or I am local and not at my camp in Gods country
This Monday i get a call from the service manager stating that they still cant diagnose the problem and are bringing in a specialist from ford....
Friday will be 30 days of having my truck with less than 4k on the clock and here in Ohio that falls under lemon law ... Love my truck but WTAF
Anyone here have the same issue or heard of this? Sorry for the long winded post but wanted to detail the issue. Its 2023 with the 5.0 4x4
The current 10 speed auto, designed and built by Ford and GM, has been out since 2017. Ford has yet to figure out how to make it reliable. For some reason, GM seems to have fewer complaints with their version.

Well 45 days later its still in the shop with no resolve. I have filed a lemon law against it. They can keep it
I think GM does have some kind of problem with their version of this transmission, and GM supposedly has no fix, and there is a class action lawsuit over it. Three people i know have or are dealing with GM transmission problems. I recently heard through a friend that his GM transmission problem was the torque converter. Any chance Ford's transmission issues are linked to the torque converter.

Thats the 8spd... the GM 10spd is pretty good. The programing on it is FAR FAR FAR superior to Ford's garbage programing.
Yep, GMs 8 speed was a disaster. Perhaps the worst auto transmission of the last decade.
Seems to be the case with Fords 10 speed...total disaster! After this lemoin law case is closed I honestly dont know what to buy...ALL the new trucks are just riddled with problems.. Def wont be buying another half ton. Seems like the HD trucks have less problems

Ford currently has 2 class action laws suits and 47 million in buy backs.. Looks like my truck will be added to the buy back
If Ford was smart, they’d go back to a ZF licensed auto. The current 8 speed used by Ram and many other Euro manufacturers is an absolutely excellent unit.
Sad to say, but if my back was against the wall and I needed a new truck now, it would be a Ram 2500 with a 6.6 Hemi and an 8 speed ZF auto. Ram quit installing V8s in the 1500 trucks this year.
Toyota has a very major issue with the 3.4 twin turbo V6 in the Tundra. So bad that I would recommend anyone interested to do some basic internet research before stepping on a dealer lot.
GMC/Chevy has the same 10 speed auto as Ford and most of the same headaches, except it’s programmed better. Then there are the ongoing issues with MDS on LS engines. I’d say the current gen of truck is a big improvement over the last, but they still feel a generation behind the competition which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
for another year or so you can still buy a Nissan Titan, which by all accounts is a very good truck. The 5.6 Endurance V8 has had few issues in it’s 20 years of service. The 9 speed auto seems to be doing okay.
From 2017 to 2023 ford sold roughly 5,500,000 F150's. If 1% have a transmission problem you will more than likely see it on a forum like this. That would be roughly 55k trucks / people.
I don't know if 1% issue rate is good or bad but maybe there are far more trouble free 10 speeds out there than people realize.

GM got or had a class action lawsuit with it...including Caddy, GMC, Chev etc.

I own one so maybe I am trying to be optimistic.
That would 550k ... seems you forgot a zero...and thats a LOT... Thats just for the 2014 recall... Its more that 1% for 17 and up

We must have the same mind set because thats exactly what I am looking at is a new Ram 2500 gasser or the older Tundra with the good ol V8 6 speed
