Not all states allow double towing either, so if his state allows doubles without a 5th wheel and he crosses into a state that doesn't allow doubles at all, or requires a 5th to do it, he will have to pay the fines and drop the second trailer. State reciprocity only goes so far.

As long as he doesn't do anything stupid and all lights function, he'll be fine.

This picture is the camping version of my wife trying to carry all the bags in from the car in one trip.

I couldn’t imagine trying to pull this off.

“A” as in Arizona? NOT. Lead has to be a 5th here.

Not sure about Alaska, but I'd bet they have some pretty lenient towing rules and virtually no enforcement of whatever rules they do have.

Cant hold up 5 vehicles or more and thats about it. I think there are only 4 weight scales in the whole state. You have to be doing something pretty unsafe for DOT to hassle you.

That rig would likely be legal in South Dakota. The lead does not have to be a 5th, but the overall length has to be under 75’ total.

assuming he isn’t over on any axle weights by our bridge weight formula (which is quite restrictive) then they he would be fine.
