I have had the ZF in as my DD for about 2 years. It took me about a year to get used to because I went from a tricked out C6 that helped me smoke everything for about 100 yards, to this slow shifting manual that made me about the slowest thing on the road. But now I love it. Love the granny 1st that I use climbing the on-ramp in the morning. I love the better mileage I get, and being able to shift into OD on the freeway is worth its weight in gold. Of course I would like to swap to 3.74 rear gear (from a 3.31) to give a bit more bottom end pep. I imagine I will use a 2005 and newer SuperDuty rear with the P. brake hubs.
All in all, I am very happy I went with the ZF. If I were to decide which I liked or benefited most from, the hydroboost brakes or the ZF5, I think it would be a toss up.
Do you have a list of components required for install of the ZF-5-speed ?
Maybe if you could, post some of the links you found to be most helpful for the change-over ?
I have a C-6 behind my 429 with 4:10 final gears, which are wonderful here in our mountainous grades to climb.
I have a NP435 that I installed in my CrewCab pickup, which is behind the 300 six.
My 300 six is definitely no race machine but sure works happily when needed.
A ZF trans with OD would sure be nice.
