Hi I'm new here and willing to admit I need help. I recently bought a 90 Eddie Bauer Bronco 5.8 with e40d, the previous owner bypassed a few things such as the ign switch and the computer under the dash was unplugged and wire plugged into another computer, when I turn the key, nothing comes on, I've replaced the ignition switch and repaired some of the wiring (the newer looking tape) but I was wanting to know, would I be able to install a 94 f150 wiring harness without any major issues? When was the wiring figured out as to the efi system? Any major differences between the connectors between the years? I would appreciate y'alls help on this, thank you!
I have a 1990 EVTM
You need one
Get all that aftermarket wiring off the truck and start over
Easiest method is for you to fix one wire at a time- and use heat shrink tubing and a heat gun
Start with the power and ground distribution wires
I agree with Manicmechanic007 re: starting over with the wiring. Those Scotchloc connectors under the hood are a wiring issue waiting to happen (if it hasn't already happened). They are not protected from the environment and will allow corrosion to wick inside the wire insulation, causing all sorts of issues. I agree with using heatshrink but would suggest making sure it's adhesive-lined heatshrink for anything exterior. In a car I typically use it in the interior as well, but it's less important there.
