I just picked up a cool little 1977 F150 with a moderately built 351w and a crappy C6 that is slipping pretty badly between 1st and 2nd.
I like the idea of an auto for leisure and some towing, question is what is the best compatible transmission with an OD?
I leaning towards an AOD, but I am not familiar with all of the automatic transmissions that might be compatible.
Any help would much appreciated!
Pic of the truck cause we all love pics!
AOD from '88-'93 is the best. Later 4R70W is better but needs a controller.
Are you going to run the engine as-is?
That is kind of what I was thinking for the trans.
As far as the engine goes, yeah.
It's a new build and I see no reason to change anything on the engine, build specs:
357 Windsor with Eagle h beam rods, Scat crank, Wiseco .030 over flat top pistons. TFS stage 1 roller cam, gt40 3 bar heads, 1.6 crane roller rocker arms.
Fitech GoEfi 600hp, new MSD 6AL. MSD billet distributor. New 2.5” full exhaust with H pipe.
