Camper currently has 235/85r16 HT tires on it from PO and I'm looking to replace and just wondering what sizes would be ok use? Dry weight is roughly 8500lbs and just curious what sizes will work so I'll have more options to choose from. Thanks
Those tires look a little big for the trailer. What size does the Mfr suggest?. If what you have on there is what the Mfr specifies I would not go any larger because I would be very concerned with potential clearance problems. Make sure that the load index for the replacement tires are high enough to support the weight of the loaded trailer, probably at least 110.
Have a look at the USA made Goodyear Endurance ST tires, they seem to have a very good reputation in the RV world. Maybe something in the 75 or 80 aspect ratio to give a bit more space between the tires.
The gap between tires is roughly 2 inches and PO towed the unit to from BC to Arizona every year without issues, but I have no problem stepping down in size.
Is there enough room there to install a set of X chocks for when setup? If not, maybe with a little bit shorter tire X chocks can be used to help control both roll and trailer movement, I know X chocks have made a difference on our TTs.

Not sure, but I've always just hammered in a piece of wood between the tires and it works just fine for me and cheap lol.
I'll be towing the camper 2500kms cross country then parking it in a permanent spot so I'm looking to buy a less expensive set of China tires plus spare and i have psi sensor caps with in cap Bluetooth display in case I get a blowout during transport. Will of course be going with 10 ply tires just not sure on brand or size yet, but if I can go a bit smaller I will.

Well that is a pretty specific scenario.
I would think that for a single 1600 mile trip almost any load range E China bomb should survive. TPMS is a great option to have, BUT all 9 China bomb ST tire failures that I have had all maintained full pressure, they suffered broken/slipped belts and tread chunking off without any air loss, so give them a good once over at each fuel/rest stop.
What are the brand, model, age, weight rating, etc. from the existing tires. They may be more up to the task than a cheap new tire?
They're 13 years old unfortunately. Dean Wildcat H/T radial(LT)load range E/10 ply is what they are and even though I see no cracking or dry rot due to high humidity of BC they're still OLD lol. There's a chance they make the 2400km trip with no issues and there's a chance one or more explodes en route and from what I read there's a chance a China tire will blow up as well, but probably a good idea to go with brand new tires.
I can get brand new 14 ply Winda Boto ST radial rubber for $165/each or 10 ply for $130/each so better safe than sorry right!
Can also get ST235/80R16 CARLISLE RADIAL TRAIL HD E10 TL for $165/each and from what I read they are a good brand so won't be overly expensive to pick up 5 tires and bring them to my trailer out in BC and have them mounted at the nearest shop to my TT.

this would be my pick.
YMMV
Carlisle just rebranded to Carlstar, so don’t freak out if they say Carlstar when you get them. I was mad as heck thinking I got fooled with a knock off until I saw that they rebranded.
These are great tires. I won’t buy anything else until I have to.
