Another Fuel Pump Driver Module Issue
Have a bit of a challenge here that maybe someone could give me a hand with. Just got done a timing job on my 06 5.4 F150 and it seems like one problem after another. First was a broken radiator/transmission cooler line (must've stood on it by accident). Then after I get that wrapped up and I finally go to test it, I have another issue. Truck started alright, idled a little rough. After it got warm it started to shake, gas got sluggish and it eventually died out. These were ironically enough the same symptoms that forced me into a timing job, as I had the same symptoms but also bank 2 over retarded codes. Now I'm wondering if it was a combination issue all along.
Anyway, on to the problem. I now have several codes all related to fuel, P1233 (FP) Driver Module Disabled or Off Line, P1237 (FP) Secondary Circuit, P0191 (FRP) Sensor Range/Performance, and Bank 1 and 2 lean codes. Inertia switch is good to go and I have continuity from the PCM connection to the FPDM. I also have 12 volts and a good ground at the FPDM. A couple of years ago I replaced the FPDM with a Dorman after the stock one cracked in half. With the Dorman, the truck runs for a bit (a few minutes) then stutters then dies. I can restart it with the same symptoms albeit a shorter time before it dies out again.
Thinking it may be the module again, I ran out to Advance and picked up a Carquest FPDM. With this module, it is a complete crank no start situation.
Bypassing the module completely with some jumpers, truck runs fine! This would typically lead one to think it's a bad module but both modules I have actually make the situation worse.
Thoughts? At this point I'm thinking about just keeping it bypassed while I sell it to someone who has more patience than me.
