t-stat size....
Might have to do another one of these after 180k miles. Not srue if i got blown pump or hole in radiator. anyways.
I should replace my t-stat cause its always ran really hot with the 203 in there.
uhh, anyone remember which t-stats go with the IH pump?
I know the OBS takes the one size, then the SD takes the other size, and the IH pumps take the SD size IIRC. But.. I forgot which one is which.
Wanna put a 186 or a 190 in there cause I always ran about 10 hot on the 203.
Cause the problem is I still dont' know which one goes in the IH pump.
My memory is way off. And since I have to order the correct one, you can't buy what i want at the parts store, I would like to get it right.
I got so used to sites not actually representing the correct product that I stopped looking like you did there years ago.
And, i forgot that clay uses correct photo's.

So, it looks like the correct T-Stat I need is the short stem?
Cause you can use the ford T-stat which makes getting the part easier.
But at least now I have some cross rerence PN's.
I just need to get this sucker cooled down, good to hear the 180 is helping out.
I don't run a fan on my truck, but the 213 i see is higher than I'd like, and its always been that way, fan or no fan. ford or IH pump. But I've always run 203 t-stats.

PAI 481829 - NAVISTAR 1845805C2
Then there is the NAVISTAR 1845805C1
All 180's.
The C1 seems to have a different gasket, they say the PAI, which... is the indexed part on all the sites, so I went with that, has a thicker gasket. but then there is a site that references the c2 with the 829. And I think how this was at one point was the C1 was the thin gasket, the c2 was the thick gasket.
But since these are all PAI parts and being sold as the navstar replacement, they all seem the same now.
Since i ordered the new riffraff tstat housing and upper hose, I'm not as worried about sealing now also, so if the 180 is too cool for me, the 190 swap isn't a headache like the old tstat housing.
If you wanna do the swap to the billet top like riffraff sells, you have to buy the OBS silicone to SD pipe. Its made to make up that length difference in the housing. Mine was disentigrating inside, there was turds all over the top of the t-stat and in the pipe i could wipe out with my finger, so its all good there.
