Howdy y’all,
been collecting parts to do the Ex to F lower center dash swap, things are looking good, as far as the dash panel. I ended up wiring the up fitter switches directly to the battery with a little aftermarket fuse box and it seems to work well for the led off road lights. Now the fun part, hooking up a new TBC. I’ve read a lot, and am procrastinating a bit about this part of the project. Looks like my Ex has the 2 sensor master cylinder, the TBC I picked up has 2 plugs and I’m hopeful someone could guide me in the right direction on finishing this project.
If you get that working it'll be pretty sweet. I'd say you're in for some staring at wiring diagrams of the two trucks (whatever the TBC came out of and your Excursion) to figure it out. I'm sure it can be done, but it's not common.
It looks like the 2005 F series TBC does not have any communication with the cluster or other modules. It should be straightforward to connect it to your EX wiring.
Hopefully you have all the trailer tow relays. Do you have a 4 pin or 7 pin connector? Self serve junkyards are a good source of the connectors and you may find a matching harness to easily upgrade from 4 to 7 pin.

Thanks guys, and thanks for the wiring, the up fitter switches would plug into the same spot my rear entertainment system does on the Ex, that’s why I wired the little fuse box to power it. The truck came from the dealer with a 4 pin and 7 pin round on the rear bumper, that’s why I thought it would be possible to add the factory TBC

I myself plan on this mod but plan on using a P3 rather than the factory controller. With my P3, I have WAY more options and a lot more gain for heavier trailers. The Ford TBC stops at 10.5 and leaves a lot to be desired, atleast for me.
