I see a couple posts about pressure washers and since my garage is heated (use it almost every day) its not an issue, but for those that have to store cold (dont want to put in bedroom) there are a couple ways. Some units you can blow out with air, there are provisions for it. I might be tempted to get a 5 gallon bucket and some RV anti freeze or even regular freeze. Put about 3 gals straight in the bucket and get short hose for suction. Take wand off the machine and suck the freeze thru just until it expells the water out the hose,,, done deal. When you want to use it again hook up water and blow it back in the bucket just until it turns to water again. You can use it over and over again.
Well here is what the owners manual of my Karcher pressure washer says to do before storing it for the winter.
1. Disconnect all water connections
2. Start the machine for a few seconds until the water which had remained in the pump exits. Turn off immediately.
3. Drain the gas and oil from the engine.
4. Do not allow high pressure hose to become kinked.
5. Store the machine and accessories in a room which does not reach freezing temperatures. The machine should not be placed near an open flame i.e. furnace, hot water heater Etc...
CAUTION: Failure to follow the above directions will result in damage to the pump assembly and accessories.
