Hi i have a 76 f100 with the 360 in it, I recently went to start it and am getting nothing no clicking or anything. I have power from the battery and a new starter is on there as well, I can jump it from the solenoid and it starts and runs great. Could this be caused by a faulty ignition switch? when i remove the ignition wire from the solenoid and check for volts I'm not getting anything.
could be faulty switch, or faulty/misadjusted neutral start switch. Try wiggling the gear selector while attempting to crank, or put it in neutral....assuming you have an automatic...

Are you getting any lights inside as this can help us help you.
Then power from battery to where????
Then something about jumping the solenoid and getting it to run.
Did you jump from large stud to large stud or battery to the small stud with the "S"?
Also does the truck have a auto or manual transmission?
So I dont think it is a battery issue if it started and ran but need more info.

Yes lights are working and the battery is new and so is the starter. I jumped it from the large stud to the small stud that the ignition wires connects to.
Ok so the small stud is not getting a signal when the key is turned to start.
You not have to back trace or it is forward trace
You will need to know what color the wires are for this part.
At the IGN switch test for power on the signal wire from switch to NSS
If it has power move to the NSS / no power replace switch.
At the NSS check to see if that wire still has power at the NSS when turned to start.
No power wire is broken somewhere / power wire is good.
At the NSS check if there is power out going to the solenoid.
No power out bad NSS switch / power out check for power at the solenoid.
Solenoid no power on the wire to the small stud bad wire / has power bad solenoid.

I believe you fellas may be jumping in the deep end first. I would ohm out the solenoid and make sure your wiring from the coil is present. I had a '67 that I jump the solenoid back in the day until i had the time to get a new solenoid? Becareful on older trucks like my '67, it had no safety switchh annd if in 2nd - 3rd gear would take off down the road if it was in gear and you jumped the solenoid ;-)
Thank you all as it turns out it was the neutral safety switch they had it zip tied in place and tucked under the dash and the zip tied must of moved as i slid it back a little and it fired right up
My '77 just a few weeks back did nothing. Zip, nada.
My first thought was to check the connections at the little prongs on the solenoid where the hot wire from ignition pushes on.
Sure enough, the connection was loose, so I simply re-crimped the female end terminal on the wire, and Presto.
Back in business.
