Hey guys I have a 98 ranger and I'm having a little problem I'll drive down the road in the faster I go the more hot air blows to my feet my recirculation door closes but not all the way I can push it by hand but it'll come back about 15% open when I turn on the fan every position works and will divert air whichever way I put it but going from hot to cold has very little change although I can hear the door moving any thoughts
Not that familiar with these rangers yet as I am usually workin with the F250's and stuff.
Also I have noticed there is very little participation on this forum.
Must not be too many owners Or everyone has the $$$$ to have work done for them.
Anyway, back to your issue, mast of those doors are vacuum operated so if yours is I would check for a cracked hose, oor maybe a Tee.
If yours is operated by the cable from the slide switch, maybe the cable hold down is slipping.
I know it sounds easy BUT Try to look under there to see what makes the door operate vacuum hose or cable from slide control sw.
Let us know what you find...
I'm very familiar or what I consider familiar with the vacuum systems on these trucks and I've gone through what seems to be everything vacuum wise even the reservoir under the passenger fender I can unplug the diaphram and feel suction on my thumb wich feels like good pressure but I wonder if the diaphram is bad maybe
Well if you are that familiar, you should have hooked up your vacuum pump to the diafram to see if it holds a vacuum.
Also remember the faster you go the less vacuum you have. that is the reason for the canister.
Remember the old cars you almost had to let off the gass for the wipers to work.
Good luck....
