Oil pressure problem maybe
we have a 99 psd. Last night when the wife got home (this is her daily driver). She told me that the oil pressure gauge started fluctuating and the red warning light on the dash came on. She pulled over and shut the truck off, and checked the oil the level was still on full. She did say that the truck kinda hiccuped a few times but other than that it run fine.
So here is my question
Do these trucks have more than one oil pressure sensor? I can't remember any other except the one on top of the hpop reservoir, which i believe is simply a on/off switch. Which actually has been broke for a month or so (if you turned the key on it would show pressure without the truck running). When you unplug the gauge would drop to zero.
The hiccups could be from fuel quality She put fuel in it a few miles back. Gotta save that 2 cents a gallon. So I don't know if the two a actually related.
And the truck may have developed a short/broken wire in the oil pressure circuit.
You are correct that it only has 1 oil pressure sensor. Probably need to go down that rabbit hole to get it figured out.
There is also the ICP sensor, unplug the sensor and if the connector has oil in it the sensor is leaking thru Internally and needs replaced. That one will cause some funky sudden high or low RPM jumps when it goes
