Belt replacement

2015 F-250 CC 4X4 PSD 114,300 miles

How long are you all going before you replace the serpentine belt? I have 114K miles on mine and it still looks good. I wanted to change it before my 1500 mile round trip next week, but, looks like a real b***h to do.

If you have done it, how hard was it to do??

I changed my belt on the 16 that I had at 100,000. It was relatively easy.

I bought a complete serpentine kit from Rock Auto. I believe it's this one here. I talked to my buddy who owns a shop and he said that is the way to do it, replace the idler pullies, belt tensioner and belt all at the same time. I also read on here that it should be done at 100k miles. I'm at 122k miles and it will get done this summer...

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=11659&jsn=511

Going to buy a cheap serpentine belt tool kit, found on Amazon or at Harbor Freight. I want to do it myself. I'll probably research how to do it... we will see.

Did you go from the bottom, and did you have to remove the fan shroud?

All I did was use a breaker bar on the tensioner to loosen the belt and changed the belt from the top. I did not remove anything except the old belt. I did not replace anything except the belt. The other parts involved (tensioner etc) will last much longer than the belt.

Mine close to 200k miles on it when replaced & it still looked good. I gave a Ford tech $50 to R & R mine & was happy to give it to him after looking at all the B S on the front of that engine.

Nearly 200k on mine and the idler and tensioner were both rattling. Got everything changed out with a Gate’s replacement set from Rockauto while the aircon was being done.

As a rule I change mine in all my cars and trucks at 100K, then I keep the old one in the truck as an emergency one. I dont change other parts just because.

Yep, I save the old one as well. But when it comes to a high torque engine like the 6.7, that puts a lot of strain on those pulley bearings. I'll keep the old pullies in case but I'm most definitely keeping the old belt as a spare. I'll be curious to see how she looks...

For everyone else, this is the kit I bought last year on Rock Auto.

Part number for my truck, single alternator...

I'm disappointed to see China on the bearings, but it is what it is... like I said, I'll keep the factory ones around as spares. Maybe I can figure out what bearing that is and get new ones pressed into the old idler pullies...

New tensioner and bolt...

Hard to make out on my phone, but the bearing on the right looks like it says 6303. Can’t make out the seal designation after the number. I think 6303 is same size as 6203 but has a better duty rating.

With 285k miles I changed the belt once at ~120k miles which means I got ~185k miles on my current belt. All the pulleys are still original and quiet.
