I have a new to me 08 f350 SRW 5.4 with an enclosed Knapheide service body. Fully loaded with me in it, she comes in at 7980. Seems like a lot and I’m toying with removing the service body and going with a regular bed and tool cap. I’m coming from an f150 4.2 that weighs in at 6400 with the same tools. I still have it and could use the cap.
The truck does just fine and it’s a massive upgrade over the f150 but I figured I can shed 800-1000lbs with the swap. Not sure if it’s worth the hassle. I love the setup but would like to occasionally tow a 10-14k equipment trailer, too and that seems like a lot of stress on the ol’ girl.
Any thoughts?
If the truck is a cab and chassis build it will have a different frame than a pickup and a regular pickup bed will not just swap over without some extra work. And the cab and chassis trucks have different cab to axle lengths than the pickups.

Its a box delete. Learned that the hard way when ordering my Timbrens.
