Does anyone move their license plate?

I currently have a longbed truck, and my camper doesn't overhang by much, so I just leave the plate on the truck because it's easy enough to see. But my new truck is a shortbed, and it won't be easy to see the plate when the camper is on.

Because I use my truck for so many different things, the camper will be on and off quite a lot. Moving the plate back and forth from truck to camper each time would be a pain. Do any of you move the plate, or have you found that it's possible to get an extra plate for the camper in your state, or is there any other good way to deal with this?

Also, have you or anyone you know been pulled over because your plate wasn't visible? Just wondering if it's a big deal or not.

Thanks for any advice.

I made a photo copy, laminated it and put in in a frame.

Never had an issue in the 15 years.

I'm in Arizona and I requested a replacement for a lost plate. It cost about $5 and came with a new sticker as we only use a rear plate here.

Nope. Plate stays on the truck.

We moved the front plate to accommodate the factory Warn winch.
Since we have a short bed truck and camper, the camper hangs off the back about 18".
The rear plate gets moved to the camper pass side rear every time its on.
It's not a big deal. Just do it in the right order.

In CA, the CHP is looking for the tiny brightly colored yearly sticker on your plate to make sure you are currently registered.

Did the exact same thing. The original plate is still on the truck. Have had my share of assorted LEO trailing me on the highway and have yet to have an issue either.

You can buy vanity plates on line. Just had them make a copy of my plate . I have been questioned once in 6 years at the US border and told them what was done ,nobody cared.
