Towing
I have a 2000 excursion (adore it!) and a F350 crew cab 4x4 PSD LWB (adore it too!) that I use to pull my 3 horse gooseneck.
Now that all the girls are off at college,(no more horseshows), my trailering has been cut by about 99% so thinking a change is needed.
Thinking of getting a shorter truck (don't want to lose power, just length) or realistically should bag the gooseneck and go for a loaded excursion and get a bumper pull. Had one before and although I prefer the gooseneck 100% over the bumper pull, with the amount of trailering I will be doing I can manage.
This will require a new excursion as the one I have has the small engine (seemed like a good idea at the time). I'd go with the 4x4 PSD to try and emulate my beloved truck.
How's everyone's experience towing with the excursion. I had a suburban (not a diesel but fully loaded for towing) before the truck and found it gutless - hills were a joke (35-40mph if I was lucky). REALLY don't want to get into that boat again.
I'd appreciate any input, thanks,
Carole
