First time post on the 1973-1979 forum. I'm a transplant from the slick 60s forum, but I need some advive from the guys who know.
1976 F250 Camper Special. Starts and runs like butter. It's about to be donated for scrap. I need an idea of value so I can convince the executor to sell it to an enthusiast instead pick-n-pull. I have enough engines in my life and don't need a another project, but I have been around long enough to know that someone may want this rig intact. I'm just looking for a reasonable price range so I can keep it on the road, or I can just let it go. I;m not the seller, just an enthusiast neighbor. No rust on rockers, rust on cab trim. Pics attached...
Welcome to FTE, find out what the local Pick-N-Pull will give him. Ask them if they buy vehicles based off what they are or by scrap weight? And bump up the offer a bit. Can he drive it to the Pick N Pull or have to pay for a wrecker or does Pick N Pull come get it? Things to think about when you make an offer to him.
Positives: 1976 F250 Ranger, A/C, green interior is kinda not the norm, Ranger trim package. In Cali is it smog exempt being a 76? That might be a big factor in the worth price to a Cali guy needing a smog exempt truck. 3/4 ton 2wd, bed side tool box. Camper shell.
Negatives: Looks to have set for quite a while, obvious rust in all the scary places.
Other things to think about, like is the title available? Mileage? So maybe 1k to 3K (?) who know out there in the west coast. Maybe 5K.

Nope for it to be smog exempt would need to be a 75
this is extremely location specific... where i'm at in south texas, if you washed the crap off the outside and that's just surface rust on the roof and at the top of the doors, this wouldn't last one day on market place for 5k. if everything works including the AC, you could probobly get 7-8k.
where i am, the only thing that 1-3k like 77&79f250 said would be non running, no title, plenty of rust stuff.
Copy. I'm 1/2 block away and might just go hit it with my gas power washer. Have Mike list it on FB marketplace for 5k and let someone give it some love. Thanks guys!
