I have never seen where both lines are the same inside diameter. They are different sizes so you cannot connect them incorrectly.
Idk, I can say that this Bronco has led a interesting life. It was my buddies fathers truck, he bought it brand new back in '89. His father owner an auto body shop and I know the truck was repainted at least once and my buddy has owned it since his dad died in '99. It's on it's 4th engine, 2nd transmission and 5th drivers seat! lol This will be the third fuel tank, so the lines are probably not stock. But at the same time according to the Ford Master Parts Catalog I have, the lines are the same or were in 1990
If you look at the wall thickness (they're the same) you can see that you can tell by the outside of the lines. Don't believe me? Go cut one of your OD 5/16" lines and try shoving in a 3/8" barbed fitting into it.... ask me how I know
Well apparently it has worked fine on this truck for 20 yrs, that's when the tank was replaced last. I think if I had shown a pic of the other ends of the lines I posted of the reservoir on this truck My4 wouldn't have gotten annoyed. Those lines have no fitting on the other end of the lines so you can see that they are the same size. Despite thinking that they would be because of the different size fittings, it just seems logical. Believe me I thought the same way until the one end snapped off as I dropped the tank. The other line kinked so I cut it off and voila they are the same. Then looking at the parts catalog I see they are the same part number, they must be the same. SMH Just seems wrong
Well either way, between your diagram and his pic of his reservoir it has been confirmed that the lower line (with the big fitting) is the feed line. Now this weekend I can replace the fittings on this Bronco and hook to the tank assured I'm doing it correctly and possibly hear it run for the first time in many years! Thank You!!
