I was able to complete the repair. I thought I'd add a couple of notes.
The resistor that needs re-soldering is small and surface-mounted, so small diameter solder seems to be easier to use. Probably 0.8mm or less.
When re-assembling the cluster, the pins for the odometer connector are easily mis-aligned. Make sure the trip reset button is properly in-place, and when you get the board lined up, put only two screws in the back to hold everything in place. Before putting on the gauge needles, etc, plug the partially assembled cluster in to the truck to make sure the odometer works. After confirming odometer function, remove the cluster and finish reassembling.
