4R70W Normal Behavior
I have a 1995 F-150 5.0L with the 4R70W, and I was just curious what the normal behavior was for the transmission and locking torque converter. I’ve driven both the E4OD and 4R70W, and I know they’re entirely different transmissions but I would expect them to still act very similar. The shifts in my 4R70W seem somewhat sloppy, not slipping or anything but just not very firm. The torque converter locking especially, when cruising it takes 3-4 seconds to lock which I’m not sure is normal. My other truck with the E4OD has much firmer shifts and the torque converter locks and unlocks almost instantaneously, feels like another shift almost. I’d just like to know if the way my 4R70W is acting is normal, or if it might be time to start replacing some parts on it.
