91 explorer, crusie control does not work and will not light up on dash when activated. Pulled off horn cover, 12 volts constant on one terminal, key on, only 5 to 6 volts on another terminal. No voltage or ground on third terminal. Can anyone walk me through the problem. Thanks XBCMC
Best bet would be to order the XLNT "electrical & vacuum trouble-shooting manual" fro helminc.com. On my 87 Ranger there are 2 fuses for the CC. Yours is probably different, but on my 87 fuse 16 is wired to cigar lighter & horn relay & the CC is powered from the horn relay. Is your horn working? Fuse 6 is wired to the cruise control brain. Check the fuse page in your owners manual.
Dont know but you will not get a light on the dash when the cruse control is active, did you test it and see that it does not work or did you just assume it did not work becuase there is no light that it did not work....if thats what you did i would go on the highway hit the on button and then hit set...and remove you foot from the gas there will be a little de accelleration and then it should kick in
on mine well sad to say it was bad connections and the speed sensor was bad now if anyone is wandering were it is it is at the transfercase on the speedomiter cable
accroeding to the website witch has been correct on every test that i have done the resistance measures fine and is expost to make a ac voltage but does not oh yea be for i forget the control box for the whole cruise control is up above the glove box very easy to get to.
oh yea do the test that the website has on the switches on the wheel that will tell you what is going on with that
That might be my problem. The speedo reads fast on cold mornings here in Idaho. When it warms up it seems to be closer to correct. I'll pull out the sensor and try it. The Explorer used to be our family car and now is my sons. I can't remember if there is a dash light that shows when the on button for the cruise is pushed, I thought there was. Thanks
