fuel tank

I have a 1974 F250 4x4 hi-boy with narrow frame. I would like to move from in cab fuel tank to a rear 19 gal. tank. Is there anyone that makes a kit for this that does not cost an arm and leg to get?

I would look at Jeff's Bronco Graveyard, Dennis Carpenter, National Parts Depot, and LMC. Don't think there is an inexpensive out of this change.

No you can not use a 77-79 19 gal tank the rear of the HB is to narrow. Check out a 83? Bronco 2 plastic tank.

I used a 1990 bronco ii tank and pump/sender. You will need to move the rear leaf spring crossmember back to get the tank behind the rear axle. I made a crossmember to put in front of the tank to hang the tank straps on. You will also need to change your filler neck. The bronco has an internal vent for the fuel filler. I am adapting a 1980 - 86 f150 fuel filler neck. I am thinking I can get it to land right for my filler door. The sender ohms within range of the 70s Era ford's too. I am planning on running sequential port fuel injection so I went with the later model tank and sender/pump. If you are staying carbureted, you can run 1983 tank I think.

You may want to recheck that sender.
Yes the ohm maybe right but I think it works backwards from what your old one dose.
I know the 87> works backwards from the 80-86 trucks.

I put 5 gallons of no ethanol in which gave me 1/4 tank. Based on the 23 gallon capacity, it is only slightly off (should be slightly under 1/4). I was told they are different but at this point, it seems right. I will know for sure when i get it on the road and fill the tank. Yes, i can pull the sender and check the sweep again but like i said, its reading close now.
