97 7.3 AC Compressor Leak

I can’t keep my ac cold for longer than a few days and did a dye leak test. I found that the only leak is in the middle of the compressor (attached picture). Is there a seal in that spot I could replace or do I need to replace the whole thing?

You CAN reseal it, but wasted time.

Just tear the entire system apart and do it all, correctly. ONCE. 11oz PAO oil. 38oz 134A. Done.

I agree with Eric. Make sure you replace the orifice tube as well. You will need the AC tool to open the connection.

Recover any refrigerant, you do it how you want.

Liquid line is metal, so can flush. The OE manifold set is good but old, replacement is prudent but can flush and reuse. Fresh accumulator. Replace evap. Red orifice (mind its direction). 11oz PAO oil, drain whatever is in the new compressor...stand it vertical over night. 38oz 134A. Should have a small tube condenser, so just flush and clean the fins. HNBR oring set.

Compressors are all about same now. I have a UAC in the 01 5.4s. Both bit noisy even new, just how they are in my experience. OE tend to be quieter.

Budget two days if never done it before. Not hard, just time consuming.
