Just purchased a used '01 Limited (V10). It has the keyless entry
touchpad on the drivers door. The plastic card with the factory
code is not in the vehicle. Does anyone know if the factory code
is posted somewhere inside the vehicle? My Ford dealer doesn't
seem to know the answer.
I just went through this a month ago when I bought my 2000. It wasn't on the truck anywhere, but the service dept. was able to get it from the truck's computer somehow. They did it when they were programming me a new key.
I have not had to do it on my Excursion. However, on my explorer, the code was printed on the computer module located in the rear panel in the cargo area. It was (i think) the last five digits of the number printed on the computer.
First off Raider Red, I would find a new dealer. Ditto to what Rainmn9 said. My local dealer said they'd do it for 45 bucks. He just plugs it (the truck) into the computer and gets the code. I didn't do it yet however. I got 4 key fobs (2 stock + 2 for the remote starter) if I lose all of 'em I guess I'll go see the dealer. I looked all over my Y2K X and couldn't find it anywhere.
Hey tscaud, about the panic button, I have no idea but whatever you do, don't ask Raider Red's dealer...
