Another CEL!!

Had another CEL come on yesterday. 1st time was about 1.5 years ago. Has the codes read and showed two O2 sensors and a NOX sensor code. Curious if I am causing it. I do add Optilube at close to the correct dosage, read soot could be a contributing factor. Also read where driving in a lot of rain could contribute. I did that 2 weeks ago. Ran the truck pretty hard for 900 miles, hooked to a travel trailer and drove back in very hard rain for 400+ miles.

Grasping for straws I know but it's all good while under warranty albeit a pain to put the truck in for service. In a few months, any repairs will be on me. Don't have a good feeling about that.

#1, give the truck bio
#2, give the codes

Rain and optilube should have nothing to do with it, I do both regularly and have never had any issues.

Looks like either a bad NOx sensor or a issue with the sensor harness or harness connectors.

NOx sensor is what I would address before anything.

I would look at your under the hood fuse block and see if it is wet.

Just curious if you had the 22E04 recall done...? If you did and it's the NOX sensor, it may be covered...

Why would that be?
PCM/TCM update doesn't change anything as far as the sensor or anything, just updated programming.

The truck is at the dealer this morning. I'll ask them about this recall you mention. I'll also post what the issue was when the truck is repaired.

The dealer is indicating a NOx sensor is out. That's the 2nd one in 2.5 years. Would really like to know what can cause this to go bad. Like i said at the first post, I felt like I ran the truck pretty hard for 2.5 days. 900 miles in 12-13 hours without shutting it off, then turned around and towed a RV back is some of the worst rain I have driven in. Obviously not as fast as the going trip but nonetheless, it was a lot of miles in a very short time period under load. All the while, using Optilube XL. Other than towing my RV, the truck doesn't get driven a lot. It has 15,300 miles on it.

Sometimes you just get bad parts which seems to be a more the norm after covid production and assembly lately.

What you did I wouldn't consider driving it hard for a vehicle even in rainy conditions.

the update turns on nox related monitoring and sets code thresholds that are not in place pre-firmware upgrade.

If you had the 22E04 update and they are claiming it is the NOX sensor, I would bring this up and ask if it's covered under warranty...
