78 Lighting

Issue: No tail lights when head light switch is on/ no rear side marker lights.

I do have brake lights/ blinkers/ hazards/ and reverse lights. All lights up front work. I took apart and cleaned all harness plugs under the hood. I used a test light for the front harness plugs- all checked out. I used the test light on headlight switch- all checked out there. Tested the fuse box and fuses- all checked out. I checked the wiring along the frame- didn’t see any issues with wires (will check again). Used the test light at the rear harness plug. With headlight switch on - yellow and green wire probes light up. Brown and black did not. What am I missing here? I own a meter if anyone suggests getting readings at place for further diagnostic.

I have added grounds before and after the rear harness plug. All other grounds have been re done and added as well under the hood. Motor/body/frame grounds are all good.

idk the wire colors so i can't help you with those specifics, but i believe you should have one wire as a ground back there and one for the back up light, you should have 2 without power with the switch on..

did you check power at the socket and/or bulbs themselves? the run/brake bulb is a dual filament bulb and the socket has a plug about 6" behind the tail light housing. start on the driver's side because the wiring harness goes there first.

I’ve tracked down the issue to D3AB-14A459-FB. The brown wire from headlight switch to the plug by the firewall has power. Other side of the two wire plug has no power and of course nothing back to the rear end or anywhere on the frame run. Anyway to fix it not passing through the connector or do I need to find another plug to replace out.

Update - still looking for help

I have 11.40 V on firewall side of the two pin connector for the rear harness. On the female side I have nothing. I removed the plastic housing of both male and female sides and connected the spade end (firewall side) to the brown pin and got minimal v on the bare connection.

I bypassed and wired brown to brown and tan to tan and had no lights at all.
I wire brown and tan (firewallside) to just brown on female side - no lights at all.
I have brown and tan wired together currently and have 11.40v and markers up front working. So is the plug important to this loop or do I just need to wire it a different way. Or do I need to find a new connector from a donor truck.

plug numbers are:
D3AB14489-UB (fire wall side - male)
D3AB-14A459-FB (rear harness side - female)
