Timing is bad
And I’m having to share a ride with my wife, which is not bad sharing with my wife but driving all the time is specially with two jobs and side hustle and her job. , so I’m trying to do this. Myself.
OK, so I have a new distributor installed. My ignition module has been checked it past five times., My plugs were filed. I clean them real good. The coil is good.
I had fuel in my oil so I change that and oil filter. I have put the number one cylinder at the top so I thought I think.
I installed my distributor and lined up the rotor button to the number one cylinder straight down I tried spit sputtered didn’t crank so pulled the cylinder back up to the top I think . I loosen the bolt on the distributor , And rotated it counterclockwise 1 inch tried to crank it just spun I distributor and then 1 inch clockwise and seal nothing so I don’t know how to mechanic. I’m trying to learn so some of y’all’s knowledge I appreciate it.
Pull #1 plug and the cap off the dist.
Hold you finger over the plug hole and turn the motor over by hand.
When the piston comes up on the compression stroke your finger will be pushed off the hole.
Line up the timing mark for TDC then look where the rotor is pointing to.
If it is not pointing to #1 wire on the cap you will need to change it so it dose.
