This year $ 7-8k already; however I did upgrade the radio- whoop-de-do! Most likely get it in for a diag- move on from there. I do need road worthy transpo for our roadtrip this summer to the UP- Michigan.
have a trans shop check it out dave. if they give you bad news, one step at a time, just remember having 240k on it, isn't on your side, as many of those we see have blown at 65 to 80, than 240k shows how easy you have driven and cared for that truck

A scan tool could easily diagnose a converter. There is Lockup commanded, commanded slip and actual slip and difference PIDs. You do have to know what to look for. Sometimes it is OK to have a large difference.
Also if you can check Mode $06 data on a scan tool. It watches the cylinders and will pick up even one misfire. CELs only set if it "pollutes" past a threshold, which can be 100s of misfires.
It works very well on the 4V V8 engines, even back to the 95 I have.
