My '78 F100 has these rubber step treads, but they're deteriorating. Any idea where I can find replacements? I've searched all over and can't seem to stumble upon the right keywords. Thanks!
I have never seen thosevold style "tube" bumpers have any kind of step, rubber or steel. So they could of came on the bumper or been added by the pervious owner when he slipped and fell off the bumper getting out the truck one to many times.
If you can not find any, you might cross you fingers and take one off (pry carefully?) if you can not see any attachment hdwr. And maybe you can find alternate that will work? Check E-trailer web site. Maybe get some made on a 3D printer out of some sort of material??
That step is on a OEM "fancy" chrome non step bumper, matches a front bumper. ???
Might could get a base to fit the contour, and have it chromed, then get a rubber step pad on it. Looks like it mounted using the top bumper bolt, might be rust under it, or new looking chrome?
My guess, was maybe sold through J C Whittney, etc ....
You guys are amazing with your knowledge! I can't recall what I ate for breakfast.
I'm not sure what would make my bumper "fancy," but it generally matches the front. The front has those vertical bumpers, not step pads. Yes, the step is attached via the bolt hole. I might just pull them off and see how things look under. Summit appears to have a couple replacement bumpers (no pads), although the pictures aren't great:

Ok so an OEM contour/sport bumper. I just seen what looked like a aftermarket tube bumper in your 1st pic. And those rubber steps were added by a PO, for sure. I have never seen that set up (rubber steps) from the factory. But great idea to make the bumper less slipable.
