I just replaced mine because the bearings were gone. Purchased a new Bosch unit. Issue I had is the Bosch came with a pulley too small, so I had to swap in the original. Cleaned up the wiring and added a new cooper lug at main terminal as the original was bad. When I pulled the small grey wire pigtail from original it was melted on, so I cut it and put a new spade connector.
going to try and rebuild the oem and possibly paint it to color match the blue scheme I’ve been going with.
This thread is a bit older now. But my Bosch lasted for such a long time and went out here recently.
Well. They dont make them anymore. So I had to downgrade because the bosh was higher... output or whatever.
So, got the parts store one, cause warranty.
Not sure what happened in those month or 2, but there ended up being a short that I spent 2 weeks chasing in the alternator, I thought so many other things were broke or shorted cause it was wiping my batteries out. Turned out the alternator had a short in the diode pack that drew power while the truck was off. Anyways.
Another replacement, but.. Sucks. I wanted the exact bosch replacement again because it was so good to me for like 8 years.

Duno where you got a bosch, but I can't find them. They are not made or refurbished anymore from what I could tell.
I would try to find an original Ford production alternator with a base part number of 10346. 10V346 is not original production. Ford alternators ending in RM are remans too. BBB Industries makes almost all reman alternators under many names. A Motorcraft reman is the best reman since BBB has to make it to Ford requirements which are higher than aftermarket.
I have a few production alternators. What make, model, year and engine is your? Dual alternators? I will check.
I have seen BBB, interesting they are a major rebuilder. Maybe they were on Cockauto.
3Gs are so simple, one could probably just rebuild their own for $30. VR brushes, that ring, bearings, and I guess send it unless has some catastrophic failure.
Just as an update here, I was driving last night after dark. When I turned the vent fan on high, the headlights noticeably dimmed and the voltmeter noticeably dipped at idle. Higher engine speed helped with the dim headlights and lowish voltage.
Mine do once in a while while its running. Never found the cause but it happens now and again.
I don’t think so. When I turned the vent fan back down, the voltage looked normal. When glow plugs are on, the voltage stays pretty lowish at idle, even with all unnecessary stuff turned off.
