Which longtube headers work for a 1970 F250 Camper Special equipped with factory power steering? I'm planning to remove the aux fuel tank, and there is no front sway bar to contend with. Thanks!
Since the F250 C.S. models include the spare fuel tank, long tube headers won't work (or at least none that are currently available). However, if you locate a set of older used headers, you may be able to make them work, as they're a little bit shorter, but there's going to be one heckuva sharp turn on the LH side outlet to get around that tank. I know this because my '68 CS has long tube headers, and that sharp turn, but I don't know who made them, as the truck came that way.
On the other hand, since you're going to take that tank out, you're only concern now (or "then") will be PS, so you could use "standard" (non-CS) headers. HOWEVER, be aware that some (most?) headers are going to place one of the primary tubes really close to the PS gear, and melt one of the seals inside it. My truck came with the "PS-delete" option (someone cut the belt off), and when I tried to fix it, PS fluid went all over the floor. Found a new pump, installed it, drove it that for a couple years (weekends, etc), and then- same thing. Seal burned/melted out. Do a Search here and you'll quickly see this a known issue on FE motors with headers and PS.
I just picked this truck up and deliberating on build plans for it. I wonder if the Sanderson FE427CS headers might better clear the PS. They are mid length but seem well designed. With full lengths it looks to be a really easy job to set up the exhaust.
Maybe the truck really needs a Qa1 front suspension with rack and pinion steering instead...
i'm not sure what will or won't fit, but if this truck is new to you and mostly stock on the engine side, i'd put headers further down the list. they aren't going to give you much if any HP gain with a stock cam and stock heads. the FE isn't the cheapest thing to turn up the wick on and your C6 is going to rob a lot of what you can put to the ground anyways.

It's a stock 360. Probably going to end up with a hot 390 or 445. Trying to work out parts choices at the moment.
