Coolant dripping!

1992 E350 7.5 started dripping coolant from front of engine. Source has not been identified. Not sure if it’s the pump or bypass hose or hopefully just a hose clamp!

Will loosening the radiator cap reduce amount to buy me more time?

It’s not the front but rather the forward drivers side. It’s darn hard to see in there.

Possibly the timing chain cover gasket. It's a very thin gasket and will develop a link about half way up the sides.
Just one more place to look beside the water pump vent hole or the thermostat housing.

Good luck!

Remove the air cleaner. Get a bright flashlight and look around.

So it’s definitely on drivers side. Behind the water pump and not the water pump. Higher than the water pump. Can’t see anything from above. It leaks most when cold and slows down when hot. What else is on the drivers side? (I don’t want to hear the head….)

There are coolant passages in the forward part of the intake manifold that continue into the head. There might be a temp sensor or two towards the driver side of the intake manifold.

Borrow or rest a pressure tester, remove the air cleaner and hoses to the throttle body and have at it. Most chain auto parts stores have loaner tools.
